Meet The Viola Project Team!

Skyler Schrempp (Artistic Director and Board Secretary) is the proud Artistic Director of The Viola Project.  She is a professional teaching artist and actor and has taught with numerous non-profits in both Chicago and New York including the Striking Viking Story Pirates, Community Word Project, the Young Artist Program, Chicago Children’s Theatre and Adventure Stage.  She has been seen on the stages of Oak Park Festival Theatre, Griffin Theatre, Redmoon Theatre, Adventure Stage, 16th Street Theatre, First Folio, Cole Theatre, Strawdog, Artemesia, and BoHo.  She is also a founding ensemble member of One Year Chekhov and a frequent collaborator with Back Room Shakespeare Project.  She is a graduate of the School at Steppenwolf, the National Theatre Institute's Moscow Art Theatre program and Hampshire College. She continues to be inspired by all the girls that want to spend their summers and after-school time bringing Shakespeare to life.

Rebecca Dumain (Program Director) has been working with The Viola Project since 2013, first as a Teaching Artist, then as the Communications Director, and now as the Program Director. A proud graduate of Northwestern University, Rebecca has a focus on theatre for young audiences and creative drama as well as a passion for developing new plays. Rebecca has worked with many Chicago cultural organizations in various capacities including Chicago Humanities Festival, Adventure Stage Chicago, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Writers Theatre, American Theater Company, and Lookingglass Theatre. She is a member of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education as well as the Young Professionals Circle of the League of Chicago Theatres. Rebecca loves getting to work with and learn from the insightful and brave girls of The Viola Project, who never cease to amaze her. There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

Jasmine Henri Jordan (Community Outreach Liaison) loves the work that Viola Project does and is so happy to be a part of it. One of her other hats is as Audience Development Manager for Victory Gardens Theater. Jasmine is also a teaching artist for Northlight Theater and has taught for Mudlark Theater Company and American Theater Company. Jasmine makes a lot of weird art and performs with a collective called Hot Kitchen. She is a proud Florida State University alumna. The lunatic, the lover, and the poet are of imagination all compact.

Catherine Gillespie (Grants Director and Board Treasurer) is proud to be part of the team at The Viola Project. In addition to her administrative duties, she is an an active member of the teaching staff at TVP. She graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan with a degree in Music Theatre. She currently teaches Voice at Columbia College Chicago, and has also taught for the City of Evanston’s summer Young Artists Program as well as the Music Prep Division of Oakland University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. Additionally, Catherine is a professional dialect coach, having worked on recent productions with Red Theater Chicago, Promethean Theatre Ensemble, City Lit Theater and Haven Theatre. I count myself in nothing else so happy as in a soul remembering my good friends...

David Tabak (Board President) has been in nonprofit management for 23 years. He is currently executive director of Meals on Wheels Chicago and provides consulting services to nonprofit organizations. David is a former president of the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston. David is the founder of the C(3)EO Forum, an organization that supports the chief executive officers of non-profit organizations. David is the proud father of bold daughters, Maud and Lila and lucky husband of Denise. David is the author of Lather Rinse Repeat, a collection of short stories. Some good I mean to do, despite of my own nature.

Susan Bennett (Board Member) is currently a partner in, and the executive creative director of, Simple Truth. She has built a career of designing solutions for clients from Fortune 100 to grassroots nonprofits. She leads with intuition and creative spark, and she challenges all to be risk-takers who boldly question the status quo. Susan has over 25 years of communication design experience. Her career has led her to some of the most acclaimed design firms in the industry, and she has been recognized for excellence by the American Institute for Graphic Arts, and Print and Communications Arts magazines. Outside of Simple Truth, Susan has a fine art practice working in porcelain, wood, and ink. She’s married, is the proud mother of a teenaged daughter and son, and is perpetually amused by her small flock of chickens. Aye, there's the rub.
