Previous Workshops This Season
“What’s he then that says I play the villain?” So says Iago, Shakespeare’s most dastardly creation. Conniving, manipulative and most of all charming, Iago is an unparalleled bad guy with a knack for poisoning minds and ruining lives. But why? Professional actors have searched for his motives for four centuries and now it’s your turn! Find your inner villain, but find yourself before the day is over!
Break bread with the Viola Project this November as we find things to be thankful for! Shakespeare’s plays are filled with war mongers, murderers and villains, but they are also filled with peacemakers, saviours and heros. Fight feuds with Benvolio, give selfless gifts like Antonio, and learn to see what’s truly valuable as King Lear. But most of all, find your own sense of gratitude!
“O what a noble mind is here o’erthrown!”
As we delve into the holiday season, let us take pause to look at some characters that had some really crazy families! Literally and figuratively, madness is an on going theme in Shakespeare’s plays. This workshop will give you new perspective on how absolutely normal your family is. Trust us.
"If all the year were playing holidays,
To sport would be as tedious as to work;
But when they seldom come, they wished-for come..."
Join us as we celebrate the coming winter at the Red Lion, The Viola Project's favorite British pub! Enjoy light appetizers and a performance of some of our Viola Project veterans!
"We came into the world like brother and brother,
And now let's go hand in hand, not one before another."
Shakespeare’s plays are filled with brothers, sisters and LOTS of twins! We’ll look at all things concerning siblings, the good, the bad and the ugly! Act with a friend or bring your brother or sister for such great pairs as Viola and Sebastian, Katherina and Bianca and more! Enroll with your sibling and get $10 off!
At City Lit from 10am-4pm
"O how beauteous mankind is, O brave new world that has such people in it!"
Join the Viola Project and City Lit as we do a mini workshop and experience a professional production of Shakespeare’s late play on magic, forgiveness and letting go! Dinner and tickets included for students! Families are encouraged to join us for dinner and the show!
At City Lit from 3pm-11pm

Join your daughter for dinner and The Tempest on February 8th! We'll meet some actors, have a bite to eat and then watch a play together! If you have dietary restrictions, please make sure we know ahead of time so that we can accommodate you! Meet your girls at City Lit at 6:15, the show is at 7!
Registration deadline: Feb 1, 2014.
There are no small parts, only small actors! So the saying goes, but what if Peter from Romeo and Juliet had his own play? What if the Boy from Henry V was able to soliloquize to the same extent that Hamlet can? Explore Shakespeare's servants, soldiers and ladies in waiting and find out what goes on when Kings and Queens are moving mountains.
At City Lit from 10am-4pm
Registration deadline: March 1st
The bard may be 450 but his plays have never been more fresh, more important or more surprising! Join us for our annual birthday bash as we honor the man, the legend, the master William Shakespeare. As Will turns a new half century (and as we turn 10!) join us for our absolutely favorite best scenes ever. And cake.
At City Lit from 10am-4pm
