Teaching Artist with The Viola Project since: 2018
Emma MacLean is excited to be part of the Viola Project teaching team. Originally from Boston, Emma is happy to now be making her home in Chicago. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University where she wrote her thesis about disability representation in theatre. Here in Chicago you will also see her teaching with Mudlark Theatre, Special Gifts Theatre and the Red Kite Project with Chicago Children’s Theatre. Emma loves teaching kids with disabilities and specializes in working with kids on the autism spectrum. Emma is passionate about accessibility and inclusion, in addition to teaching she also captions theatrical performances, is a sighted guide touch tours and staffs sensory friendly performances. She attended a Shakespeare camp when she was a child and is ready to discover Shakespeare with a new group of girls.
