Workshops and Events

The Viola Project provides a space for girls aged 10-16 to come together and explore classic texts while engaging in a vibrant discussion of contemporary issues facing girls and women.

It is The Viola Project's mission to keep our programming accessible to all girls, no matter what their financial situation is. Please email with the subject line SCHOLARSHIP to inquire about available aid.

This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency as well as a CityArts Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events

Every Inch a Queen - Feb 16

Monday, February 16 2015

A kingdom for a stage, princes to act
And monarchs to behold the swelling scene!

Join The Viola Project as we launch our career series this President's Day! In this day-long workshop we'll take one more step forwards towards getting our first female president by letting YOU walk in the shoes of some of Shakespeare's greatest leaders! Whether you're rallying the troops to battle like Henry V, ruling with passion like Cleopatra or wrestling the throne away from a Scottish tyrant, we wanna see your leadership skills on the stage and off! Join us for a girls in government focused day of Shakespeare where we take the bad out of bossy! In addition to exploring the many leadership roles that women can hold, this is also a great workshop for anyone who may wish to apply to be a teen leader this summer or beyond. Every Inch a Queen is specially designed to provide dynamic programming for a day off of school!

Special Guest Speaker: Cathy Smith, Chief of Staff to Senator Heather Steans!

Time: 9am-4pm (student drop off begins at 8:30)
Location: City Lit Theater - 1020 W. Bryn Mawr

Registration Deadline: Sunday, Feb 8
