Shakespeare’s heroines were bold, witty and strong.  They also endured constant scrutiny from their male counterparts in terms of how they looked and what they wore.  Join The Viola Project as we respond to the men of Shakespeare while responding to ideals of beauty in our present day.  On our week we’ll encounter great loves like Juliet, spurned mistresses like Rosalind and misunderstood bad girls like Kate.  We’ll tackle media representation from the Renaissance portraits of the Art Institute to the cover of Vogue and even play a little dress up!  

This camp includes a field trip to Chicago's Art Institute as well as a presentation of student generated work responding to standards of beauty for women and girls.
